April 2026 — AI and Cinema on the agenda of Italy’s Film Commissions, for the first time as a structured topic.

The Italian Film Commissions hold an annual training for the staff and directors of Italy’s regional film commissions. The 2026 edition took place in Trieste on 21 April, hosted by Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission.

Mondo Novo was invited to contribute to a session on artificial intelligence and cinema, alongside Lorenzo Attolico, partner at Advant Nctm. The session covered the evolving creative and production landscape shaped by AI tools, and the legal implications for image rights — two sides of a question that Italy’s film institutions are beginning to confront in a more systematic way.

The event brought together directors and staff from film commissions across Italy, making it one of the first occasions where AI in cinema was addressed as a structural topic rather than a marginal one within this institutional context.
