May 2026 — A public conversation at the Trento Film Festival becomes the opening of a structured training cycle on AI and cinema.

On 2 May, during the Industry Day of the 74th Trento Film Festival, a public dialogue on cinema and artificial intelligence took place at Palazzo Benvenuti, with Federico Betta and Carlo De Togni in conversation, moderated by Luca Ferrario, director of Trentino Film Commission. The session framed AI not as a novelty but as a structural shift already reshaping production, distribution and authorship across the audiovisual sector.

That conversation was also the opening of a broader initiative. Trentino Film Commission organised a five-session training programme running from 2 May to 3 June, aimed at professionals and companies listed in the regional production guide. The sessions covered practical production workflows, the use of large language models for development and research, emerging agentic AI tools, and the evolving roles and ethical responsibilities of practitioners working in an AI-assisted environment.

Mondo Novo contributed two of the four classroom sessions, focusing on the economics and workflow realities of AI-assisted production and on how creative roles are transforming across direction, cinematography and editing.
